About Kathy

Kathy started substitute teaching when her youngest child was in preschool. She enjoyed working with special education students so much that she decided to pursue her masters in special education. She taught middle school and high school students in Fauquier County, Virginia. In 2003, she earned a second masters in Reading. This reinforced her passion for teaching students how to read and helping them learn to love reading. Eventually, Kathy decided that she wanted to pursue her doctorate. She started working for T/TAC at George Mason University and started working with teachers through Region 4. A few years ago, she decided she missed working with students and went back to teaching in Fauquier County. She is currently the reading specialist at the middle school level and loves it.
